These two events are in collaboration with the Dorset Wildlife Trust to give members an opportunity to learn how to identify some mosses and liverworts in the field and to improve existing bryophyte identification skills. We’ll also be updating the Bryophyte records for both DWT reserves.
Booking for both events is essential.
You’ll need to register first if this is your first time booking via the Dorset Wildlife Trust Volunteer Management System.
For both events, please bring lunch and a hand lens if you have and dress appropriately for the weather. Wellies recommended. Look out for any emails advising of cancellation in the event of adverse weather.
Friday 20th November. Upton Heath DWT reserve.
Bryophytes for beginners and those wishing to improve their identification skills of mosses (including sphagnum species) and liverworts. This joint field meeting with Dorset Flora Group and DWT Ecology Volunteers (flora) will be surveying for bryophytes in the new land acquisition area in the central and southwestern part of the heath. Habitats will include dry, humid and wet heathland and mire and might also include some woodland.
